Black Lives Do Not Matter To American Mainstream Media – 147 College Students Killed In Kenya

If 147 White college students had been murdered by terrorists anywhere in the world the mainstream media in the U.S. would treat that as breaking news and continue to cover that story for weeks on end.

There would be interviews with witnesses. There would be interviews with the families of the victims. Network anchors would fly to the location of the attack. Network newsmagazines such as ABC’s 20/20 and NBC’s Dateline would cover it.

But, when 147 Black college students at Garissa University in Kenya are murdered by terrorists (on 4/2/15) that story is barely covered. Black lives certainly don’t matter to American mainstream news outlets.

  1. Sad but true, Val…sad but true. People are going on and on about the German airliner, but it’s *crickets* about these murdered students. Just like there were *crickets* about the girls kidnapped by Boko Haram. I hope you don’t mind if I re-blog this…

  2. That’s why I prefer to get the news from the internet. The news outlets here just do not seem interested in world happenings. Which is a shame because most of us are.

    • Me too. There are some very good news sources online. It’s a shame that we have to take that extra step to get the news we really want.

  3. Sadly Val, they barely matter here in the states………..people just don’t care. Those poor people were murdered mercilessly, but very few of us care………..why is that?!? Sure the same people that just don’t care would call themselves good Christians and yet…………no one seems to care.

    It’s sad commentary Val.
