A lot of crazy stuff went on in the 1990′s. There were crazy styles, crazy music, crazy slow speed police chases on TV and much more. So I thought I would dedicate today’s Flashback Friday post to the crazy 90′s! Enjoy the trip!

I love cast iron pans!

So as I mentioned in a previous post I tend to get into food ruts. That is once I find something that I can make fairly well I have in the past continued to make that meal for several days in a row. Much to the chagrin of the girlfriend. Now I’m turning over a new leaf. I’m trying to at least prepare a fresh meal every other day.

In that vein I’m going to saute fish tonight. I don’t know what kind of fish yet. I have to go to the market to see what’s fresh. I’ve only sauteed fish once before so I’ve got my fingers crossed. The plan is to add a little olive oil to the pan, then add a bit of soy sauce and a few slices of onion. Then slowly cook the fish until done. Oh, and maybe a little fresh squeezed lemon.

To go with the fish I think I’ll make rice with mixed vegetables. I’ll probably make baby squash, baby zucchini and baby corn. And before the main course I’ll make a simple salad with cucumber, sliced heirloom tomatoes, spinach and mushrooms with a vinaigrette dressing.

Update: I made the meal and it was really good. The girlfriend smiled after taking her first bite of fish. I made it just as I said only adding a few really thin slices of garlic to the fish as suggested by a couple of my wonderful blog friends in the comments. It really added a nice subtle flavor to the dish. Thanks!

Singer Taylor Dayne, whose real name is Leslie Wunderman, is a native New Yorker known for her unique “nasally” voice, who had several major hits in the late 1980′s and early 1990′s. Taylor has released a total of 25 singles, six of which were top 10 hits and one song, “Love Will Lead You Back” reaching number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart.

Taylor Dayne has not stopped working, releasing her latest single, “Floor On Fire”, in 2011, which charted at number 8 on Billboard’s Dance Chart. According to reports she is now working on remastering her Greatest Hits album.
